Craig Updike, the logger who has been cutting here for years, recently mentioned to me his father harvested a record 20 pt buck in 1983. Craig mentioned that Outdoor Life, a popular hunting magazine of the day, ran a story about the deer. Grizzly Creek is lined with a zillion blueberry bushes, which bears love, so I’m wondering if that’s the source of the name. (Past blueberry season now, and no bears in sight, though we saw a cave!) Saw more wildflowers than expected in September!
